Are They Well Qualified?

In the pursuit of a well qualified remodeling contractor. There are many things to consider:

- Are they a reputable company?

- How long have they been in business?

- Can they provide a customer referral list?

- Do they have a current certificate of liability insurance?

- What hours can you expect them to be on site?

- Do they have photos of previous work?

- Are they trustworthy?

- Do they have an A+ rating with the BBB Better Business Bureau?

The choice you make, of course is totally up to you. Doing your research is above all helpful. Get three quotes if it makes sense to do so.

Do you need a Specialized Contractor or a General Contractor?

General Contractors- Have well established relationships with qualified sub-contractors who all work together to complete the project task.

The general contractor is the one you hire who is overall responsible for the performance of the project. He is the one that you will want to work closely with and communicate with often.

Specialized Contractors- Perform one specific task. You may want to check their back ground as well, to make sure they are licensed, if that is all you need them to do is one specific thing. Granted, you wouldn't want to hire a roofing company to do your electrical repair work.
